This website is born out of an earlier project when we published a monthly magazine LOOKEAST between March 2010 and November 2010 but had to close it down for unsolicited circumstances.

We wanted to cover India’s east and northeast and it’s volatile neighborhood – a region that straddles across South and southeast Asia connecting China, India and the ASEAN nations that account for half the world’s population and has some powerful economies. Basing coverage on nation–state boundaries would not make sense at a time when all nation–states in this region are bugged by the connectivity fever, despite territorial and strategic tensions. 

This website www.lookeast.in will cover this region as an integrated whole and trying making sense of its major issues. It will focus on quality analysis and special stories rather than daily news though readers will not miss major daily stories in the region. ■
