SUBIR BHAUMIK The burning down of 9 crude oil tankers in Upper Assam points to a change in equations between rebel groups in India’s Northeast. Indian intelligence agencies now confirm that this violent action was carried by joint squads of ULFA (Independent) and NSCN (Issak-Muivah) guerrillas. But ULFA(I) is in the rebel coalition UNLFSWEA that was…
The DGFI has gone berserk over the expose on the failed assassination bid on Bangladesh prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
They have forced the PMO to issue a press release, using one of their assets there, against the wishes of many senior people like Media Adviser to PM. By blocking LOOKEAST story on the assassination bid and then by stupidly issuing the denial, they have actually got all interested in what happened. Some media outlets carried the denial but hyperlinked Indian media stories on the assassination. We must thank some bold journalists like Pir Habib bhai who stood up to them. They are trying to project the story as an attempt to desstabilise Bangladesh, as if the actual assassination attempt was not one of them. It is the ISI which is trying to destabilise Bangladesh and oust Hasina, even kill her, not LOOKEAST story.
Anyway let us get into the facts which we will release progressively. DGFI brothers and sisters (do you have some now), who is Captain Russel Azad, son of Abul Kalam Azad of Dakshin Ilisha of Bhola ! Was he not a student
Why is DGFI keen to silence the story and counter it ? Is it because they have something to hide – either failure to discover the plot or the connivance of some of its officials in it
of Cadet College, an occasional volunteer Bhola Bandhujan Club and then a ‘rokon’ of Jamaat e Islami who managed to get recruited in the army and then infiltrate the SSF ! Was he not killed in the counter-action on 24th August when loyal bodyguards saved PM Hasina ! If you deny this, the identity of others killed in counter action will hit public domain. You can’t also silence our media brothers and sisters in Bangladesh for long. The quintessential East Bengali spirit of defiance will emerge.
It was never our purpose to create a commotion. We hold Sheikh Hasina dear to our (Indians) heart and believed firmly that the expose will deter the janaabs in Islamabad and Karachi to desist from such nefarious plots like trying to kill your Apa or destablise Rakhine. They should know Indian and Bangladesh civilian intelligence agencies work very closely now (maybe the DGFI still prefers to follow its role model, the ISI – what with two of their directors who came back from staff college in Pakistan recently) and can foil, with help of latest SIGNINT equipment from US and Israel snoop effectively into plotter communication.

Why is Pakistan and BNP silent ! They were exposed in our story. Why is DGFI keen to silence the story and counter it ? Is it because they have something to hide – either failure to discover the plot or the connivance of some of its officials in it – why is BNP not interested in implementation of Kofi Annan report in Rakhine which lays down a roadmap for peace ! Because their masters in Pakistan don’t want it. The nefarious plot to create a new theatre of jihad in Eastern South Asia has to be fought and defeated by India, Bangladesh and Myanmar – will DGFI side with this effort or with the ISI’s efforts to create a new jihad theatre is left to their bigwigs.
